Surrey House Renovation (Grade II)

An extensive renovation project of a 16th century Grade II listed farmhouse, sensitively restored and extended. We have designed both fitted and freestanding furniture in multiple rooms and areas of the project, including the kitchen, boot room, library, laundry, children’s bedrooms, cinema and bathrooms. This project showcases our expertise in working on large scale and multi-room sites, working with both architect, builder and client to achieve perfect harmony in execution of the renovation.

The kitchen is housed in a fantastic large open plan space; we’ve created different furniture styles across the zones, which includes a dining area with dresser, the kitchen itself and a walk-in pantry. Within the kitchen we suggested using oak beams to encase the furniture to marry up with all the other oak joinery in the house, it was also an aesthetic solution to hiding the extraction. The oak uses a subtle limed finish to connect with the other areas of the house too.

The separate pantry room; simple and utilitarian styled hand-painted furniture, has been zoned off from the kitchen by a part-glazed sliding door which integrates into the furniture in the room when opened. The pantry acts as a storage, preparation and scullery (washing-up) zone with the view to keep the main kitchen free of clutter when entertaining. We included shelving with bespoke brass shelf brackets (Brascote & Co) that were mounted on thick brass strips to avoid cutting or drilling into the decorative wall tiles.

Dining table commission, produced in a whitewashed oak with a circular burr oak detail in the legs.

Housed in the basement, this cinema/library room was given a contemporary feel with opulent sofas and furniture to house books. The shelving was integrated with diffused LED strip lights set into the edges at a specific angle so as not to create shadows on the back wall of the furniture. As part of the furniture a secret jib bookcase door was included to link the room to a basement store.

We designed some fun spaces for the children’s bedrooms. In one this included a mezzanine floor reached by a paddle staircase, which itself houses storage for books. In another bedroom a Scandinavian box bed was designed and built into a pitched ceiling. The bed has internal shelving, lighting, clothes storage and is finished in a distressed paint finish and lined with wallpaper.

A reflective, study / homework space. And below a small glimpse at bathroom and bootroom furniture.
