A beautiful and unusual space, this rotunda is the first room one encounters when entering this historical Georgian property. It features a circular ceiling lantern and glazed doors to the courtyard garden with five doors leading to other rooms. We have transformed the room from the lobby it once was to a library in which we have meticulously designed and produced curved fronted furniture that sleeves inside the circumference. Our client was much influenced by the library at The National Trust’s Stourhead in Wiltshire, having chosen similar interior colours and commissioned window shutters in a similar fashion.
The window shutters have been thoughtfully designed to sit within the curved reveals with the ability to independently open the upper quarter to provide both light and privacy. The overhanging Georgian style cornice is designed specifically to house bespoke spotlights to provide illumination to the shelves along with a custom made picture light for the Regency style portrait.
