This exquisitely conceived extension has transformed this late Victorian/early Edwardian period home and offers up the luxury of space for a full width kitchen at the rear of the property. For us, a truly inspiring space to design within, where original details of the property’s styling and character could be married to more contemporary design.
The airy extension is flooded with light from arched, bronzed doors and skylights and to keep the sense of openness and connection with outside, it was agreed that the kitchen design would be very much low level with no wall cabinets. The Oak island focal point houses drawer storage on both sides with a prep sink and Carrara marble worktop. Juxtaposing the marble is a run of cabinetry topped with Belgium Fossil limestone with a Lacanche range oven. On the opposite side of the kitchen a wall of tall cabinetry keeps a line of symmetry out to the arched doorway, hiding away fridge, freezer and larder.
The painted cabinetry bloection panel design mimics Edwardian ceiling mouldings found within other rooms of the house and is paired with antique bronze finished handles to suite with the bronzed doors. A bespoke, plaster design houses the extraction over the range oven.
